Military cop charged after alleged punch
Johannesburg - Charges have been laid against a military policeman for allegedly hitting a matric pupil with his fist, Pretoria police confirmed on Tuesday.
"We can confirm that an assault case was opened on Monday at the Wierdabrug police station," said Sergeant Ann Poortman.
The 17-year-old boy's father told Beeld newspaper the teenager was in Thaba Tshwane on his way to school on Monday morning when he stopped at a stop street.
As he was pulling off, the sergeant walked across the street and hit the car with his hand.
"He got out and asked the sergeant what his problem was," the father told the newspaper.
The next moment, the sergeant apparently grabbed the boy by the throat.
"They moved around the car to the boot where my son managed to open the boot. The next moment the sergeant hit him with the fist that he almost landed in the boot. His left eye is swollen and blue," the father said.
