'Miracle' escape after kudu totals car

Johannesburg - A Limpopo man says he is lucky to be alive after a kudu "fell from the sky" and landed on his bonnet.
Asi Ligege from Thohoyandou was travelling to Oudtshoorn on Saturday when he had a close shave with the animal.
The kudu passed through the windscreen of his Ford Focus and went out the back window. A part of the car’s roof was also torn off. The kudu died on impact.
Ligege said the safety belt and airbags saved his life.
“I had no opportunity at all to react.
“If my car had hit the kudu in a different way, I would surely have been dead.”
Ligege was rendered unconscious for a few moments after the accident, but was nevertheless able to bring his car safely to a stop on the other side of the road.
He sustained light injuries.
There were no passengers in the car.
Dave D’Aguiar was one of the first people on the scene. He was travelling from Knysna to Cape Town.
“It felt like I had come across a miracle,” he said.
“He [Ligege] was amazingly calm on the scene.
“He will probably never look at kudu biltong the same way,” joked D’Aguiar.
