Johannesburg - The search for a missing girl who fell into a stormwater drain in Ivory Park was continuing on Tuesday, Gauteng police said.

"They [police and emergency workers] searched throughout the week with no success. They covered all the places..." said Captain Pinky Tsinyane.

On Wednesday, rescue workers searched a 15km stretch of the Kaalspruit stream, which flows through Kaalfontein.

Millicent Mampo, 10, fell into the drain last Tuesday afternoon while walking home from school with her friends. Three other children also fell into the water, but were rescued by their classmates.

Tsinyane said a case of a missing person had been registered.
