Missing baby found a year later

Johannesburg - A woman has been arrested in Katkop, in the Eastern Cape, for stealing a baby, Katlehong police said on Monday.

"We had initially received information about a baby staying with a woman in Thokoza, but she took off when she knew the police were looking for her," said Captain Mega Ndobe.

"She has been on the run ever since."

The three-week-old baby girl was taken in August last year while she was asleep with her parents, in their Eden Park home, south of Johannesburg.

Their corrugated-iron shack was cut and a piece of metal removed to gain entry.

"Last week, we heard the same woman was in the Tsolo, Eastern Cape area and Katkop police were sent to apprehend her," said Ndobe.

The woman was moved to Gauteng at the weekend and was expected to appear in Palm Ridge Magistrate's Court on Monday on a charge of child stealing.

The baby's parents had been informed, but the child was being kept in a place of safety while investigations continued into her disappearance.

Sadly this child's birth mother will be a stranger to her, hopefully time can heal those wounds.

So the parents have been told that their child has been found but they aren't allowed to see her? How absolutely heartbreaking! Hope they get to take their little girl home soon!

If a child was injected with a micro chip at birth, these abductions would soon stop, all hospitals and clinics could be supplied with a scanner and the child scanned and particulars compared with the "Parents" I.D. information, if not the same as the parents the police could be called and an investigation started as to how are the parents of the child. Something for our Government to think about, instead of wasting money on a house for Zoooooma

So those that gave me a thumbs down what would you do if your child was abducted, you can't depend on the police these days.
