Missing boy found dead in N West

Johannesburg - A 5-year-old boy who was allegedly kidnapped by his stepfather, has been found dead in an open veld in Majakaneng, Mooinooi, North West police said on Sunday.
Sergeant Philani Nkwalase said a shepherd walking through the veld found the body behind the Echo Berry farm on Saturday.
"Police found the body, with bruises on the neck and a fractured skull, shortly after they were alerted to the scene by the community," he said.
Nkwalase said further investigations revealed that the boy's mother registered a case of kidnap against his stepfather on Wednesday.
Police were searching for the stepfather, but he could not be found.
A case of murder was being investigated.
