Pretoria - The fraud case against William Godibele Nkuna, former boyfriend of missing police constable Frances Rasuge, was postponed in Pretoria regional court on Thursday, as he was apparently ill.
A relative of Nkuna handed a doctor's certificate to the court, stating that the man had been booked off from March 30 until April 1.
He got the medical certificate on Thursday from a doctor in Soshanguve. The nature of illness was stated as: "medical problem".
The case was postponed to April 14. A warrant of arrest was issued by the court, but would be kept until that day.
If Nkuna did not appear in court, the warrant would come into action.
Sangoma also arrested
Nkuna's bail of R5 000 was also provisionally forfeited until his next appearance, pending the reasons he would give the court for his absence on Thursday.
Nkuna was arrested with traditional healer Phinius Kutumela in connection with the disappearance of Rasuge in August 2004.
The case was struck from the roll after the State asked for too many postponements.
Shortly after this, Nkuna was arrested in connection with the fraud case and was released on bail of R5 000.
The State claimed he submitted fraudulent documents as part of an application to buy a vehicle in March 2004.
Nkuna was arrested again last week for the suspected murder of Rasuge, although there was still no trace of her or her body.
However, the murder charge was withdrawn soon after the long weekend.
