Mbombela - A 12-year-old girl has been found after she went missing two weeks ago in Mpumalanga, police said on Saturday.

Colonel Leonard Hlathi said the girl, who said she had been raped, managed to tip-off a community member in Chweni Trust in Kabokweni, that she had been abducted by the man she was travelling with.

"The suspect managed to flee when he realised the police were on to him," said Hlathi.

The girl was allegedly abducted at Elandshoek, Ngodwana near Nelspruit on 4 May.

The search for the man, thought to be in his early 30's, was still continuing, Hlathi said.

The man was also wanted for a series of crimes ranging from kidnapping, rape to house and armed robberies committed in the area.
