Mistakes galore in exam paper

Nelspruit - A matric computer studies exam paper was so riddled with mistakes, that Mpumalanga's education department is investigating the matter.
The two-and-a-half hour paper was fraught with spelling and grammar mistakes and a repetition of instructions.
Education MEC Siphosezwe Masango became aware of the paper when the Democratic Alliance (DA) forwarded questions to him regarding the exam paper's quality.
"It's ridiculous to expect the pupils to do well on a paper with such silly mistakes," said DA legislature member Anthony Benadie.
He questioned the competence of those responsible for compiling the exam.
"We believe the department should have quality checks in place, and somebody should be proofreading every exam paper," he added.
Provincial education spokesperson Thomas Msiza confirmed that the computer studies paper was indeed the official paper written by the Grade 10 pupils last month.
"But we can't comment at this stage until we have completed our investigations," said Msiza.
