Modimolle station commander in court
Johannesburg - The Modimolle police station commander will appear in court on Tuesday, said the Independent Complaints Directorate (ICD).
Colonel Mosima Maila had been charged with assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, ICD spokesperson Moses Dlamini said on Monday.
He said Maila was accused of assaulting a man on March 16, last year.
Maila allegedly hit the man on the side of the face and ordered the police who arrived at the scene to arrest him.
"He [the complainant] was then taken to the police station in Modimolle and kept in the cells. He was later released," said Dlamini.
Maila would appear in the Modimolle Magistrate's Court, he said.
