Mom and baby killed in shooting

Ulundi - A two-year-old baby and her mother were killed when unidentified gunmen opened fire on them in Ulundi on Thursday, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Friday.

Captain Vusi Mbatha said Kwazi Wandile Mtshali and Cabangile Thembi Ndlovu, 27, were killed while watching television with three other family members.

"The baby sustained two gunshot wounds, one in the chest and right thigh and the mother from the back through the chest," Mbatha said.

The father and two sons managed to get away from the house.

Five spent cartridges of either R5 or AK47 riffles were found on the scene.

The motive for the attack was not known.
