Johannesburg - A 4-year-old boy died and his baby brother was seriously injured on Sunday when their car hit a pole in Boksburg, on the East Rand, paramedics said.
ER24 spokesperson Vanessa Jackson said a Toyota Auris was travelling on Rondebult Road towards Boksburg CBD when the accident happened at 10:15.
"It appears that at Comet Street, the children's mother, who was driving, lost control... and she crashed straight into the pole," she said.
Jackson said 27-year-old woman suffered minor injuries. Her 4-year old son died at the scene. His 20-month-old brother broke his leg and was taken to a hospital in Benoni.
"He has since been transferred to the Union Hospital in Alberton, where he remains in a stable but serious condition," she said.
There were no other vehicles involved in the crash.
