Johannesburg - The man accused of kidnapping and killing Johannesburg student Leigh Matthews will spend Christmas behind bars.
Donovan Moodley, 24, appeared briefly in the Wynberg regional court on Friday and the case was postponed to February 17.
He was remanded in custody pending further investigations and the possible adding of further charges.
Moodley, of Brackenhurst, Alberton, was arrested on October 4 this year in connection with the July 9 disappearance of Leigh Matthews.
The provisional charges he faces are murder, aggravated robbery, abduction and extortion of R50 000 from Matthews' father.
Although ransom money was paid, Matthews was killed and her body found on July 21 this year in the veld between Grasmere and Walkerville.
The case is expected to go trial in the Johannesburg High Court in about five month's time.
