More cop cars for N West farms
Johannesburg - Police stations in rural farming areas in North West were allocated 32 more vehicles to fight stock theft and illegal cross-border activities, the department of public safety said on Wednesday.
The provincial police would allocate more resources to the rural stations as part of the rural safety strategy, the department said in a statement.
The strategy was to improve safety in the rural areas and ensure rapid responses to the farming community.
MEC Desbo Mohono said the department had planned to improve security in Tshidilamolomo, Disaneng, Makgobistad and other border posts.
She said the department was working with the department of agriculture to clamp down on cross-border stock theft.
