More female mayors for SA?

Johannesburg - South Africa could have more female than male metropolitan mayors after the local government elections, the ANC said on Thursday.
The ANC had to have a minimum of 50% female candidates, said its secretary general Kgalema Motlanthe.
"Fifty percent is the minimum, maybe we end up with five or six (mayors)," he said.
South Africa has six metros, all controlled by the ANC. At the moment, Cape Town mayor Nomaindia Mfeketo is the only woman.
With the terms of serving mayors coming to an end, nobody would be losing positions, Motlanthe said.
