Motorist arrested after crash
Johannesburg - A 20-year-old woman was killed near Tlakgameng on Saturday in a car accident suspected to have been the result of speed and drunk driving, the North West Department of Public Safety said.
The woman was an occupant together with four other people in an Isuzu bakkie that overturned and rolled several times on a gravel road between Tlakgameng and Ganyesa, MEC Howard Yawa said in a statement.
Though the bakkie overturned a number of times, the other four people sustained only sustained minor injuries.
The driver was arrested on the scene for failing to produce a driver's license and blood samples were taken from him for testing.
A case of culpable homicide, driving without a valid license and suspected drunken driving was opened.
Yawa conveyed his condolences to the family of the woman who was killed in the accident and appealed to motorists to drive with caution on gravel roads.
