Mpumalanga farmer in court over dagga

Johannesburg - A farmer and his employee have appeared in the Barberton Magistrate's Court in connection with a dagga plantation, Mpumalanga police said on Wednesday.

Gert Goosen, 51, and Izaak van Zyl, 27, were each released on R5 000 bail on Tuesday, a spokesperson said.

The matter was postponed to November 11 for further investigation.

The spokesperson said the pair were arrested earlier on Tuesday after police found a dagga plantation on Goosen's Bormasdrift farm in Barberton.

The dagga was estimated to be worth about R27 000.
