Mahikeng - Two officials at the Matlosana local municipality in Klerksdorp were arrested on Friday for corruption, North West police said.

Brigadier Thulani Ngubane said they worked in the licensing department.

He said they solicited a R9 000 bribe from a woman who had tendered to administrate the parking meters to put her through to the next round of adjudication.

She was to have paid another amount on being awarded the tender valued at R9m.

However, the woman reported the matter to the police, a trap was set and they were arrested when she paid them R5 000 on Friday.

They were expected to appear in the Klerksdorp Magistrate's Court on Monday.
