Murder accused also 'assaulted' farm workers
Johannesburg - A Limpopo farmer, who is also facing murder charges, appeared in the Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court on Monday for assaulting two of his workers, said police.
The man allegedly set his dogs on one of his female workers, and slapped another, said Colonel Ronel Otto.
The case was postponed to January 30 when the farmer would also appear on charges of murder and attempted murder.
He allegedly shot a teenager dead and wounded another for fishing on his farm in October.
The 57-year-old allegedly fired his shotgun at the boys, hitting a 14-year-old in the head and a 17-year-old in the left hand.
The farmer took the wounded teenagers to hospital where the 14-year-old was certified dead. The other boy was treated and discharged.
He was released on R5 000 bail.
Otto said some 500 protesters gathered outside the court on Monday because they were upset that the man had been granted bail.
