According to EWN, an unidentified person attempted to torch a bus on Roodebloem Road in Woodstock on Thursday night.

The back window was damaged in the attack, authorities confirmed, with police looking into video footage to apprehend the suspect.

The incident took place just hours before a second bus was attacked in the early hours of Friday morning in Hout Bay.

Speaking to News24, the Hout Bay police department said that a MyCiti bus had been stoned between 04:00 and 05:00 on Friday morning in the Hangberg area.

A statement by the City of Cape Town on Friday, however, stated that the incident took place on Thursday night at 20:00.

Police are currently patrolling and monitoring the area, but a case has not yet been opened.

Mayoral Committee for Transport Brett Herron confirmed the incident, stating a window had been damaged in the attack.

It is unclear whether the two incidents are related to the MyCiti bus strikes currently underway in the city.

Investigations are ongoing, police said.
