N West holds 3 over 'imported' ecstasy

2012-07-03 22:23

Johannesburg - North West police arrested three people and seized ecstasy tablets with a street value of more than R1m on Tuesday.

"The police were working on a tip-off received on drugs trafficked from Amsterdam in The Netherlands to South Africa," said Brigadier Thulani Ngubane in a statement.

"According to the information, suspects send the drugs [via] post. The post would then be collected and handed over to the drug dealers."

The police followed two women, both aged 35, from the Klerksdorp Post Office who handed over a registered mail to a man waiting at a car outside.

"Police searched the vehicle and found boxes and a red suitcase inside the box with woman's clothes. At the bottom of the suitcase, police found... 12 050 tablets with a street value of R 1.205m," said Ngubane.

The two women and the man, 31, were expected to appear in the Klerksdorp Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

Start to decapitate the culprits, like they do in Saudi Arabia, and that will be the end of all the drug-mules, pushers and users. Absolutely NO sympathy with anybody using drugs for pleasure !!!

      Barefoot - 2012-07-04 07:41

Highly unlikey it'll stop all drug trafficking. China is giving capital punishment and there seems to be drug mules going there still

      martin.britchford.5 - 2012-07-04 08:18

i bet i can find , dealers, traffickers and users in saudi, same in china, the way to beat it is to regulate it, make the system safer, it gets rid of the underground, it cuts the diseases that are spread through sharing needles down, it puts a quality control in place, otherwise it just carries on as it has for thousands of years. relatively unphased by the war on it
