Cape Town - A Namibian man was arrested on Saturday in connection with a farm attack on an elderly couple in Vredendal in the Western Cape.
"The suspect, who is from Namibia, lives in the area of Vredendal," Lieutenant Colonel Andre Traut said.
"His fingerprints, which were left on the crime scene, reveal his identity due to a previous conviction on a drug related crime, and this enabled SAPS to trace him."
The attack on the couple, aged 84 and 86, happened at 03:00 on Friday.
The couple were overpowered in their home on a farm in the area and robbed of cash and a gun by three men who had forced their way into the house.
The couple were not seriously injured in the attack.
Traut said more arrests could be made "in due course".
The man will appear in the Vredendal Magistrate's Court on Monday.
