Kidnapped baby returned

A 6month-old baby boy kidnapped from his parents' home in Bezuidenhout Valley, Johannesburg, was found safe on Thursday. Watch.WATCH

Johannesburg - A Gauteng mother is distraught after her child was kidnapped, allegedly by his nanny.

Paraplegic Nomsa Sibango, 35, told Beeld how her baby’s nanny asked if she could take the child to a funeral in Heilbron in the Free State.

Sibango agreed and when they left on Wednesday, it was the last time Sibango saw her 8-month-old son, Sande Tinashe.

The nanny promised to be back on Sunday.

But when she went to the nanny’s home on Sunday it was empty.

“Neighbours and people who know her came to tell me that she moved. How could she say she was going to a funeral, take my child and then move without saying anything?” the distraught mother asked.

She said the nanny was about 45 years old and a traditional healer who had a son Karabo Jacob Mofokeng who had matriculated in Evaton last year.

Police were investigating and anyone with information was asked to call 078 697 6554 or 082 412 5988.
