Johannesburg - No one had yet arrived at the Nelson Mandela Museum in Qunu in the Eastern Cape early on Tuesday morning for the live crossing to the FNB Stadium in Soweto later.

It was a quiet and rainy morning in Qunu. A large white marquee tent was erected on the grass next to the museum for members of the public to view the official memorial service for former president Nelson Mandela, scheduled to start at the FNB Stadium at 11am.

By 08.30 people were still carrying chairs into the tent and setting up.

A truck carrying portable toilets arrived and was also setting up.

The contingent of journalists was still small while they waited for people to arrive.

Museum staff were going about their normal day getting the museum ready for visitors.

Mandela died at his home in Houghton, Johannesburg, on Thursday night at the age of 95.

Friends, colleagues, comrades and family of Nelson Mandela are invited to share their memories and tributes, and to light a candle for him, on his profile at
