Johannesburg - New lottery operator Ithuba has asked for patience while it ironed out teething problems, assuring winners that they would be paid out from June 6.

''The handover and transition process from the outgoing operator to Ithuba has caused some operational delays at local retailers,'' the company which took over the national lottery on June 1 said in response to complaints by punters on Monday night.

Charmaine Mabuza, CEO of Ithuba said:  ''We kindly request the public and our retailers to be patient while we iron out any temporary delays during this transition.”

Its calls centres could be contacted seven days a week between 06:00 to 23:00, Monday to Saturday, and 06:00 to 06:00 on Sundays.

Winning tickets bought before May 30 this year can be redeemed from any Ithuba regional office and any retailer from June 6.

Information on winner services and where to cash winning tickets is available on 0800 484 822 or email info@ithubalottery.co.za.
