'No Matie rules about gay sex'

Stellenbosch - The University of Stellenbosch says there are no plans to draw up a policy about sex in residences or about gays living in residence.
A statement released on Wednesday follows a report earlier this week that the university had followed a consultation process and a policy would be completed early next term.
Professor Chris Brink, the rector, says the university doesn't have a policy regarding sex in residences and doesn't have any plans to draw up such a policy either.
"We do not have rules in residences regarding gays or about the sexual activities of students.
"We do not have plans for a policy that students have to make known their sexual orientation. We also do not plan to investigate the activities of homosexuals."
Brink says he wants the same norms to apply to gays as apply to other everyday matters.
Students' privacy respected
Brink was asked if he knew about an investigation to consider adjusting rules at residences.
"My information was that some students had questions about how to handle 'gayness' in residences. Those questions have been forwarded."
Brink says the privacy of students in residences is respected.
"When you close the door behind you, you have privacy. It is your room."
"There are, of course, instances where students share rooms and then people have to show respect.
"People who live together in residences have to respect one another. They must have the confidence to speak out if something makes them uneasy."
