Pretoria - There was no sign of double-amputee Olympic athlete Oscar Pistorius's family or legal team outside the Brooklyn police station in Pretoria on Monday morning.

A handful of journalists were stationed outside the building where the murder accused spent another night behind bars.

Pistorius was arrested at his Pretoria home early on Thursday morning after the fatal shooting of his 29-year-old girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

Pistorius was charged with her murder and was expected to make a second court appearance on Tuesday for the start of his bail hearing.

On Sunday, Steenkamp's family said her body was back in her hometown of Port Elizabeth. A private funeral was scheduled to be held on Tuesday.

Adam Steenkamp, Reeva's brother, told The Associated Press: "Reeva is back home."

‘Reeva wanted people to see show’

The family said Steenkamp would be cremated in a ceremony closed to the public and the media.

Steenkamp was seen laughing and smiling on television on Saturday night after SABC chose to air the first episode of a reality TV show in which she was featured.

Her family said it did not oppose the programme being aired because Steenkamp wanted people to see it and a short tribute to her was shown before the episode.

A fellow contestant on the Tropika Island of Treasure 5 show told AP Television News that Steenkamp "was always making sure everyone was OK".

"Fun, crazy, loving, beautiful, gorgeous. She really was an angel and I still haven't come to terms with what happened," Katleho Molai said of Steenkamp.

"I haven't really eaten, I'm struggling to sleep. So it's been really hard to come to terms with what's happened to her."

Cane Corso says... Move beyond your animalistic nature. Murder by any other means remains murder. These ingrates should be put in chains until their last breath. All the while working the land and factories to feed and clothe themselves and the poor. Hang a picture of their victim/s around their neck and sells. This way they are reminded forever of their deeds. There are many more constructive ways of dealing with the scum of the earth. Death is too easy and fleeting. Read the article...
