Johannesburg - A case against seven men accused of
robbing a couple and raping the woman in Makwassie, near Wolmaransstad was
postponed on Tuesday, North West police said.
They would appear again in the Wolmaransstad Magistrate's
Court on Wednesday, said police spokesperson Amanda Funani.
"Our investigators had asked the court to postpone
the case to Wednesday because they were still gathering more information...
linking the men to other crimes, including robberies," she said.
A group of seven men, armed with knives, accosted the
27-year-old woman and her boyfriend shortly after they left a tavern on
Saturday morning.
The men, aged between 18 and 21, took their cellphones.
They allegedly took the woman to a field where they raped
her. Her boyfriend, who was left behind, ran to a police station.
