North West farmer shot dead

2012-02-20 14:45

Mahikeng - A farmer was shot dead in Buffelshoek on Monday morning, North West police said.

The 49-year-old man and his wife were milking cows in their dairy when they were overpowered by about five armed men, said Brigadier Thulani Ngubane.

The dairy is roughly 70 metres away from the couple's farmhouse.

"They were both taken back to the farmhouse where there was a confrontation between the suspects and the farmer. He was shot in the head from behind."

He died on the scene.

"His wife was taken inside the house and tied up. She was assaulted ... on her head with a blunt object," said Ngubane.

The gang fled in the farmer's car. The woman was taken to hospital for medical treatment.

need a vote on the death sentence, there is no deterrant in this country

      Graham - 2012-02-20 15:25

Why is the North West province the farm murder capital - over half the farm murders happen there...

      Alfred - 2012-02-20 15:31

procold, I get your point but remember, in this ANC run African paradise that we live in it will end up being journo's who report on ANC incompetence and endless criminal rampages who are executed.

      Deon - 2012-02-20 15:41

Send this article to Sky.Today [skytoday@bskyb.com] so that the world can see who real victims are in our lovely country

      the_gob - 2012-02-20 16:57

Death Penalty. Don't let S.A turn into another Zimbabwe where hard working farmers are targeted as the scape goat for the governments own failings. I saw first hand what happens when the State (silently) approves of this blatant racism. Everything and everyone losses. Don't let this happen to your country, take a stand and demand government accountability. These acts will only further increase the racial tension in this country.

      Denise - 2012-02-20 17:49

These attacks happen daily in South Africa. These murders don't stop, most of the time nothing is stolen. Vid of farmers murdered in South Africa since 1991 - some of the people mentioned were blind, the oldest was an old lady of 93, the youngest a baby of 6 months - http://youtu.be/06Twyq8s2po - included are newspaper clippings, take note of the dates.

      Denise - 2012-02-20 21:38

The bloodshed continues in South Africa and the last fortnight has been no different. As is so often the case it is the weak, the old and the very young who are its victims. Like all brutes who run when confronted by someone who can fight the sadistic coward killers of South Africa revel in the brutalisation of those less able to defend themselves. Thus far in January 2012, a total of 19 Afrikaner people were murdered – of whom at least eight on farms.

      Antebellum - 2012-02-21 03:05

Everyone of you clamoring for the death penalty...you should definitely think twice. Consider who you will be giving this power to. The ANC It might work now, while we still have have an independent judiciary. But this will not be the case in future(if the ANC has anything to say about it) Do you really want a former terrorist orginization deciding who lives and who dies and for what reason? What if they decide that being a counter-revolutionary is punishable by death? Or that contesting their rewritten history is treason? We will all be hanging from the gallows

      Merven - 2012-02-21 07:52

But hey! there is no such thing as farm attacks, only burglaries according to the police and the ANC.

      Randall - 2012-02-21 09:14

it is always embarrassing how way too many white people seem to think that black people have nothing better to do than spend their time plotting to kill them. south africans understand this is a WAR AGAINST CRIME where as the bigots always try to turn it into a race war.

      Janice - 2012-02-21 09:38

      100 % correct, ba*tards!!!!

      Pierre - 2012-02-21 10:41

@ Randall - I agree. It is a crime problem that includes all of the population.

      selwyn.eggel - 2012-02-20 15:12

At least Mr Mulder did net sing ABOUT KILLING FARMER! So shut your mouth and get your facts straights you CHOP!

      Stan - 2012-02-20 15:15

@selwyn.eggel, what did Pieter think was going to happen? are you so blind?

      Alfred - 2012-02-20 15:29

Ja Stan, let's blame ALL the farm attacks on Mulder. The guy who said stuff that you just really, reeaaally didn't want to hear not even a week ago. "hypocritory nonsense", I swear sometimes I think I'm going to facepalm so hard I'm going to knock myself out of my own chair.

      Graham - 2012-02-20 15:34

@the prodigy. Malema has been booted out of the ANC. @Stan FF+ get about 1% of the vote - nobody listens to Mulder apart from fascists...

No you're the blind one Stan! At least Pieter had some balls to stand up and tell the truth! GEt alife idiot!

Change your na calling of yourself to a racist!! Suits you better!

      Graham - 2012-02-20 16:06

@Selwyn farm murders were higher 10 years ago when Malema was an unknown. Every murder is extremely terrible and Malema is a hateful former youth league leader, but the fact is that there are fewer farm murders now. Last month genocide watch downgraded SA back to level 5 from level 6...

      Graham - 2012-02-20 16:27

@Selwyn. Instead of telling Stan to go back to university, I suggest you go back to school so you can learn to spell "decent"! LOL!

      Denise - 2012-02-20 17:06

Caesar Zvayi – Zimbabwe dictator Mugabe’s pet-journalist - also incited genocide against Afrikaners: he became so inspired by the South African president singing the Kill the Boer song at the ANC centennary celebrations on Jan 2 2012 that he wrote: the 'ANC needs to kill the Boers: it's the only way Power will be theirs'...

      Denise - 2012-02-20 18:43

This is state-sanctioned racist murder of white farmers in South Africa

      Antebellum - 2012-02-21 03:23

@ Graham You say:"...farm murders were higher 10 years ago when Malema was an unknown" Yes, but in 94' there were 80 000 comercial farmers and now there are 40 000, so there are less people to murder. Consider this: if 10 out of 100 000 people are murdered in a year then statistically the murder rate for that polulation group is 10 per 100 000 but if 10 people out of 50 000 get murdered it is 20 per 100 000 Essentially the murder rate has doubled even though the amount of murders has stayed the same. Let me explain in in another way. If there were 10 milion black rhinos in Africa and 300 were killed in a year, very few people would even lift an eyebrow. But if there are only 5000 and 50 are killed in a year it is a travesty( as it should be) Do you understand now? Am I getting through to you?

      Denise - 2012-02-21 08:00

From January 1, 2010 to January 29, 2012, more than 900 Afrikaners were murdered/maimed/raped/attacked by black-racist armed militia gangs in Gauteng Province alone. The second-highest number of attacks against rural and urban/suburban Afrikaner families occurred in the greater Cape Town area with 180. It is also noted that there have been nineteen Afrikaner farmers murdered and 24 Afrikaner rural families attacked by armed black militia-style gangs since Jan 4 2012, when Pres Jacob Zuma sang his song 'KILL THE BOER' in front of many tens of thousands of leading ANC-members at their 100th anniversary celebrations in Bloemfontein.

      Denise - 2012-02-21 08:04

This genocide is being carried out under ANC-rule in the Democratic New South Africa against the white minority – the majority of the victims are white Afrikaners – as can be seen on the criminology-site http://www.farmitracker.com The farm murders are not ordinary crimes but fit into the context in which the ANC-regime wants to rid itself of especially its Afrikaner- and other white farmers purely for political reasons. This is in other words, a genocide and a crime against humanity. The farm-murders are encouraged in a deliberate atmosphere of violence created by the ANC-regime against its (white) farmers. Private-land ownership in SA stood at only 33% of the agricultural land in 2001 – yet ANC leaders constantly scream that ‘whites own 80% of all the land’ … (note: viable farm-land in semi-arid SA has never been more than 6% of its total land-surface…) The ANC is constantly claiming that ‘the whites own 80% of all the land – when in fact the private-farmland ownership was only 33% ten years ago in 2001 – and has been rapidly dropping ever since. Meanwhile the extent of the farm murders indicates that this is a genocide: with 1,554 murders, this statistic is very understated!!!

      Pierre - 2012-02-21 10:59

@ Denise – It is a crime problem that includes all of South Africa. The crimes are really terrible, but one should not politicise crime. Everybody is effected not just White farmers. I do agree farms can and should be protected more. With latest technology aerial surveillance is possible. I am not propagating sci-fi and hear say, but modern warfare has introduced the unmanned aerial drones successfully, and SA do have this technology too. Large farm areas can be put under aerial surveillance. It is only a matter of doing it.

      Denise - 2012-02-21 11:08

What the Young Communist league of SA or YCLSA, do not realise is while their comrades were shouting “liberation before education” Pieter Mulder actually learned real history in school and knows what he is talking about. http://www.iol.co.za/news/south-africa/we-are-all-settlers-in-sa-1.366860 http://www.businessday.co.za/articles/Content.aspx?id=95971

      Graham - 2012-02-21 16:40

@Antebellem: Agri SA stats admit that the rate of farmer murders is lower now. Also not all of the 40000 farmers who are now not farming were murdered - most retired or gave up farming. @Denise: 3.7% of murders in South Africa are of white people. White people make up 10% of the population. White people are therefore less like to be murdered than the national average murder rate (currently 31 per 100,000). This has been verified by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime..

      Antebellum - 2012-02-21 23:48

@Graham AgriSA stats state that the NUMBER of murders went down not the RATE. Read my previous post again for an explanation of the difference between the two. It's irrelevant whether the 40 000 famers stopped farming due to farm attacks, retirement or other factors. What is important is that the sample group is smaller, which affects the murder RATE and statistical probability. Let me explain to you in in yet another way. If you have a bag that has 80 apples in it and 10 of them are poisoned (you dont know which ones) the odds of dying from one is 1 in 8 or 12.5%. 40 apples are taken out of the bag. There are only 40 apples left and 5 are poisoned, the odds of dying from one is still exactly the same (1 in 8, 12.5%)even though the amount of poisoned apples has dropped to half of what it was. My argument is that the risk/danger is still exactly the same. Your argument is that not all of the 40 apples taken out were poisonous? What does that have to do with anything? It has no impact on the odds of dying from one of the remaining apples.

      Antebellum - 2012-02-22 00:27

@Graham The hard question that you need to answer is what is the black on white murder rate vs that of white on black? Have you ever heard of a group of young white south african men breaking into a black family's home, raping the women and killing the men? No, becuase if it did, it would be on the cover of every magazine and aired on every major news network. Ok, now have you ever heard of groups of black men breaking into white people's homes, raping, assaulting or murdering the inhabitants? Of course you have, it is in every newspaper almost every day. If you can answer this honestly and truthfully, you might just get an insight into why people are so angry and frustrated. They are tired of being lied to and especially tired of people like you trying to make these very serious issues out to nothing.

      selwyn.eggel - 2012-02-22 08:42

Graham, try nursery school! The number of farm murders are not down! As a matter of fact they are up. Farmers dont get attacked to steal from them but to murder them.. FACT! And by the way I can spell decent. It was just finger trouble! You chop!

      Thandiwe - 2012-02-22 14:21

I think it is ridiculous to suggest genocide. I am 100% against these attacks and am sure a few of them are racially motivated, but the vast majority I am sure are wanton criminality. South Africa was at stage 6 - just before genocide and now it has been put back to stage 5 because that idiot Malema is out of the picture... I have it on good authority that it will be downgraded again based on stats from Agri SA. http://www.genocidewatch.org/southafrica.html Most of these attacks happen in North West and Free State with a few in Mpumalanga, Limpopo and KZN - they are rare in Western Cape, Eastern Cape and Northern Cape. I know of two in the Western Cape, both were totally criminal and the farmer got shot in a gun battle. @Selwyn - how did your finger slip from and "s" to a "c"?!! Descent! Decent! I can't even do it if I try - LOL. Am only winding you up! I notice on your Facebook that you like Helen Zille. Out of interest, do you still like her, considering the DA has come out against Pieter Mulder? I vote DA by the way...

When last did you hear a white man killing a black in South Africa? I was born post 1994...and all i read is blacks killing whites, and they sing about it too...i ask...who are the racists in this country and africa as a whole? Yes black people are more violent than whites.

      Denise - 2012-02-20 19:36

http://youtu.be/z2yocEXBmFU If the world could boycott South Africa for having separate racial development, should it not boycott the South African Government for the Genocide going on against White people in that country today?

      Pierre - 2012-02-21 11:03

@ Jack - You are clealy born post '94 and knows very little of what is going on around you. @ Denise - It is a problem of crime and not genocide.

@Pierre - True Story Feb 2 2012 – Brussels - EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT. BRUSSELS. South African farmers represented in the Transvaal Agricultural Union have lodged a formal genocide-complaint against the ANC-government for crimes against humanity at the International Criminal Court in The Hague. TAU deputy-chair Henk van de Graaf also was interviewed by European Parliament TV and various Belgian TV-stations about his lodging formal genocide complaint against ANC-regime. http://www.europarl.europa.eu/news/nl/pressroom/

      Denise - 2012-02-21 22:08

Facts not Fiction of The Afrikaner Genocide In less than 1.5% of attacks, farm workers & housemaids were murdered or harmed; organized attacks were purposely directed towards Afrikaner families on their farms, smallholdings & in their homes. Arrested farm attackers admitted only in 2% of all cases that it was out of work grievances. If Theft & Domestic violence are not the main cause & work grievances play an almost non-existent roll in the attacks, the only other reason would be planned & political genocide of a race. In less than 7% of these attacks property was reported stolen. Murders on black people by other black people consist of 73% theft, 24% domestic violence and 3% ethnic cleansing of other African Black races. In almost 43% of Afrikaner genocide cases this hatred was documented by the police but was not released to the public on order by the ANC Government. There have only been 5 reported white on black hate murder cases in the last 17 years in comparison with almost 18590-documented hate murders on white people. In 71% of all of these murder cases it was the soul intent by the attackers to exterminate the whole family - husband, wife and kids - again this pattern you don’t find amongst blacks killing blacks. Wives are raped & butchered while the husband & kids are forced to watch, kids are dragged of & brutally killed separately, a genocide procedure that was used by the Tutsi’s in the Burundi genocide, another genocide that was also ignored by the world!!

@starlight3. everytime a white Farmer is killed it trigger you posterior pituary gland to say the same thing over and over again. why quote a black farmer. we have a large number of whiter farmers by percentage to black let land grap and bee work so we could have a large black farmers so that more black farmer could be murdered and that might make you happy.

      Karen - 2012-02-21 09:17

Starlight, you are talking nonsense, many more black people get killed in SA on a daily basis than white people. (Are you implying that the life of a white boer is more important to that of a black person in a township?) Because generally, the killing of a black person, except if they are rich or powerful, dont make the headlines, most often dont even get mentioned in newspapers - the killing of anyone, whether black, white boer or not, does not make a difference (or should not) - these people who kill, will kill anyone, whether black or white, boer or not - it is just who they are - they are killers ...

      JakesLR - 2012-02-21 10:45

@ Karen- You going off the topic please. The issue here is that there is a big problem in SA and that is that white farmers are killed and tortured in the most barbaric ways you would not think off. Farmers are defintely targeted to the extreme for the last 17 years. And please proof your statement that blacks are killed and murdered in the same fashion. You are just being ignorant and blatently biast.

      Derek - 2012-02-21 11:06

Imagine if it was white criminals killing a black farmer ( which never happens by the way!) ANC, ANCYL, SACP, COSATU would be going bananas with a calvacade of officials police commissioners, politicians descending on the scene and whites bing disparaged left, right and centre!

      Marion - 2012-02-21 15:48

I understand how the farming community must feel. But we do need to stop making one life more precious than others. I agree with Karen that all life is precious and that many atrocities are committed in places other than on farms.

      Hugh - 2012-02-21 16:55

Black farmers are also taking strain, but the loss of any farmer is a tragedy and linked to the taking of land from easy targets. Time they realised its the wild west out there, carry a side arm, and use the damn thing

  • richard.hipkin - 2012-02-20 15:25

I hope these cowards get caught. I hope they also shot dead...

      comurray - 2012-02-20 16:13

They will get caught however will then be given highly paid employment to do nothing but sit around all day eating KFC.

  • Deon - 2012-02-20 15:25

This is sad. I hope they catch the criminals.

  • jean.mey - 2012-02-20 15:27

Really ! was it really neccessary ??

  • Nick - 2012-02-20 15:27

catch them castrate them then feed them to the pigs

      Tammy - 2012-02-20 15:41

pigs will die of food poisinging - let them rot in the sahara

  • Phumi - 2012-02-20 15:29

Farmers as business people should step up their security measures like the rest of us. They cannot expect the government to provide 24hrs police service in each and every farm in this country! They know that they are volnourable and should take measures to protect themselves. This is the agenda they should be persuing privately and funded by themselves. Crime affects everyone in this country but as business people it is our duty to protect our assets as well by having a security service in our premises!

      Tammy - 2012-02-20 15:42

time for you to go now retard!!!

      Justin - 2012-02-20 15:48

If you can justify that food expenses need to sky rocket to accomodate the required manpower and infrastructure (vehicles, ops centers, etc...), then by all means your comment holds water (barely), but in reality it is nearly impossible to cover even five hundred heactares with the same effectiveness as a shopping center or other type of business. Maybe you should think about what you sprout! Also if these cowardly pricks would stop being theiving anti-white murderers and get gainful employment (Security guards maybe) this crap would not happen.

      Putin the " - 2012-02-20 16:01

Good point.... I also beefed up my security at my plot!!

      Alfred - 2012-02-20 16:12

Phumi, they did. But the government disbanded the commandos.

      James Hurly - 2012-02-20 17:21

Would u rather spend thousands a month on a security company pretecting your life and bussiness or would you get the idiots out of power who blabber on about nationisation and land claims I blame the people earning a fat cat salary talking rubbish into the minds of the poor to get their votes...

  • Thoka - 2012-02-20 15:40

assign cator manor special unit to this case, it shall be closed very soon with corpses as evidence.

  • Mzwandile - 2012-02-20 15:47

Lets not try to find politics to everything happening, this is a pure criminal act and need to be treated as such. These are bloody criminals that deserve to be in jail. My condolensces to the family of the deceased and hope for a speedy recovery for the wife. @Graham, first thing that came to mind when I read this article is why these farmer murders are happening in the North West so often recently. Agree with Phumi that intellligency need to be deployed there to investigate the source of these killings, though my suspicious is not directed at Afriforum but a broad investigation.

      Theprodigy - 2012-02-20 16:37

Mzwandile, I have to disagree, sorry, the moment people like Malema used his political position to promote aggression towards farmers (the ANC did nothing), it became a politically motivated thing, this is not just crime, its racism, politics & crime all mixed together.

      Merven - 2012-02-21 08:03

'don't feel affected anymore by farmers being murdered.' Until you complain about the rising food prices.

      Fidel - 2012-02-21 08:47

@Merven Why should I, farmers aren't the only people being slaughtered by criminals in this country. Black people attend funerals every weekend resulting from death at the hands of criminals, but you lot wouldn't know this because you are also unaffected because it happens amongst "them" and in their townships. Your secluded lives ensures that you are also unaffected.

      Merven - 2012-02-21 13:25

@Fidel, and how many tons of food does these township folk deliver?

      Pierre - 2012-02-22 10:41

@ Merven - The insinuation that the "township folk" (as you put it) don't contribute, in work and paying taxes, is really non-sense. A lot of industry would not be possible, plus considerable amount of businesses depend on the "township people" and the government on resulting GST (which is a considerable amount yearly).

  • Tammy - 2012-02-20 15:51

@dutoitcoetzee - just so you know my comment was for Pumi and not you

      DuToitCoetzee - 2012-02-20 16:05

I know. Not to worry. Thanks anyway.

  • Consolata Connie Lodya - 2012-02-20 15:57

What the hell is going on in this country and why is the goverment not addressing crime. We need harsher laws and preferably the death sentence brought back. Criminals are weak creatures that prey on the vulnerable. My condolences to the family.

      Fidel - 2012-02-21 02:05

This is the most sensible post I've read amongst all this wankfest.

  • Pietertjie - 2012-02-20 16:03

If you are a farmer out there, and if I were you, every one I do not know and see in my farm, werether you are looking for help or not, I'll give it to you with a bullet on your head. Thank you.

      Fidel - 2012-02-21 02:04

And spend 10 years in prison.

      Hugh - 2012-02-21 17:00

The wife shouted that they were carrying guns, if he was armed, then shoot first as ask questions later.Sadly he wasn't.

  • Alet - 2012-02-20 16:18

Yes, and just hear the great silence as Zuma and kie respond to another farm killing. That's now apart from their own police force killing people daily on a whim.

  • Cina - 2012-02-20 16:25

This is one way of dealing with land reform just shoot the poor farmers then the government don't need to pay for the land. Bloody lot of criminals.

      Tammy - 2012-02-20 16:35

what else do you expect from them? it's what they know.

      Vicker - 2012-02-21 08:11

@Xolani: If it was the farmers workers that killed him, they are now without a job - not very thought out was it now? Compound that with the fact that there is now 1 less commercial food producer in the country. How stupid are you bunch really???

  • Jadon - 2012-02-20 16:37

If they only wanted to steal a car, and were prepared to go as far as killing someone in the process, then why bother to walk all the way to a farm? Five men armed versus two. They could have easily overpowered the two and stolen the car, if that is what they were after. They wanted to kill that farmer. Clear as bloody daylight.

      Denise - 2012-02-21 08:34

All these years we have been told by the police that farm murders are just normal crime with robbery as motif. That the ANC has no agenda to drive whites off their farms. Despite the evidence that in most cases the farmers and their family members were tortured for hours and nothing was stolen. What we're witnessing with the deaths of white farmers in South Africa is deliberate and targeted genocide. It no longer helps to masquerade it as ordinary crime.

  • Morama - 2012-02-20 17:12

Another one hit the dust and a lot more to follow!!! If South Africa can't unite and start taking positive action towards this ANC led government then this is just the beggining of the worst more to come.Talking or expressing our narrow useless comments on this site won't help cz the majority of those in parliament are illiterate so how can we expect them to see this.Zuma was addressing the nation in the past weeks and believe or not,he was reading something that is clueless as to what he was referring to.So SOUTH AFRICA UNITE AND START DEMONSTRATION OR SPEAK ON THIS FORUM WHILE DYING ONE BY ONE!!!

  • Denise - 2012-02-20 17:47

These attacks happen daily in South Africa. These murders don't stop, most of the time nothing is stolen. Vid of farmers murdered in South Africa since 1991 - Some of the people mentioned were blind, the oldest was an old lady of 93, the youngest a baby of 6 months - http://youtu.be/06Twyq8s2po - included are newspaper clippings, take note of the dates.

  • Sean - 2012-02-20 19:16

Enough is enough now - its time to bring back the Kommandos.Catch these bastards and hang them right there on the spot

  • Sean - 2012-02-20 19:19

We have a government that opposes all conventionality of the western countries. We have ties with Libya,China and Cuba. We support left wing causes all over the world and defy threats from other countries. So WHY cant we have the death penalty back? Who will complain? Only the murderers here in South Africa will complain. Its either a referendum on the death penalty or vigilante justice will come

  • Keabetswe Prince Mathabathe - 2012-02-20 20:32

These killings happen every week & nothing is done 2 prevent dem. 1 myt even think a guy who goes by de initials of "J.M" is involved in these killings caus nothing is taken frm de house dat indicates robbery dis is goin 2 caus chaos in de country. Sumthin needs 2 B done quick

  • Rudi - 2012-02-20 21:48

A farmer gets killed and black racist people comment that he deserves it! When bad economic times come and people have nothing to loose, they will remember all the bad things that was done to them and they will remember the racist that voted for this racist government and they will remember the likes of Malema and Mogabe and all their supporters that cheered them when they spoke hate speech. When the time comes to take stand don't be surprised to see most white people unite against a easy identifiable enemy that hates them. None of my Grand parents killed the English after the war for what they have done during the war. Why not? Because they were not cowards!

      Denise - 2012-02-22 00:02

@ Rudi - Imagine when Beijing will overshadow Pretoria, the renminbi will replace the rand, Mandarin will take over from English, and schoolchildren will learn about Zheng He’s voyages of discovery along the Eastern coast of Africa rather than about Vasco da Gama or Bartholomew Diaz...

  • Johan Jacobs - 2012-02-20 21:59

Interesting to note the add about the funeral cover next to your story ,I do hope that this poor victim of the goverments inabillity to deal with violent crime had the oppertunity to get him and himself some cover before he was murdered. If you have no cover and you live in South Africa youcant say that you haven't been warned. Peace to all who is longing for it !!!

  • Theresa - 2012-02-20 23:08

The reasons for most of the North west farmers are been eradicated is because of the wealth in mineral dep that are in the plans for minning companies do some googling for mining rights etc then you shall see what their agenda is mulder was correct in stating why does the anc not buy farms in the karoo etc ...there is always an agenda people farmers who do not sell even without their knowledge that their property has mineral wealth on it are been murdered ...like I said there is always an agenda...

  • Adrian - 2012-02-21 00:15

They must have learned this trick from the city cops who shoot their handcuffed defenceless prisoners in the back. Nobody to extort on the platteland, cops don't waste their time there. It's politically incorrect to protect farmers. They are programmed to be disarmed.

  • Dennis - 2012-02-21 00:16

I believe the Government of South Africa needs to clamp down on the violence in their beautiful country. They need to prove they know how govern or they will eventually lose their country and all the productive people they have left. I love South Africa but it scares the hell out of Americans to travel there.

  • Kidwell Prime Mokadi - 2012-02-21 01:14

What did the poor farmers do to deserve this?..is it still about Apartheid?I mean i'm African but i don't think this makes me happy at all.The killing need to stop. Can't they just take whatever they want but leave the lives of the farmers alone. This has got to a point that.............

  • Cristina - 2012-02-21 06:27

Oh God, I just don't know what to say.....NOT AGAIN!!!!!! His poor family...

  • Nyiks11 - 2012-02-21 08:09

This is not genocide people , farmers are not a race !!!!! Most of these attackers get away with the farmers' bakkies which are mostly toyotas , need I remind you that these are highly sought after vehicles across the mozambican border ?

  • Monti - 2012-02-21 08:20

There is no hope for the silly country run by wild animals

  • Douglas - 2012-02-21 08:32

Farmers need to wake up and organize themselves. Withhold products from the market and see how long it takes for the inept authorities to do something about it.

      Nyiks11 - 2012-02-21 08:50

The farmers should strike and toyi toyi you mean ?

  • Errol - 2012-02-21 08:41

Loss of life is always sad!!!The ONLY answer is to protect YOURSELF in this country.Simple!Government/police/army will NOT be there for you...........

  • Errol - 2012-02-21 08:49

Loss of life is always sad!!!The ONLY answer is to protect YOURSELF in this country.Simple!Government/police/army will NOT be there for you...........

  • Ziona - 2012-02-21 09:03

This is never going to stop, we need to do something. Where is the justice in this, they do this and get away with it!!! DEATH PENALTY PLEASE!!!!!

  • carl.keen2 - 2012-02-21 09:07

It surprises me how news items degenerate into personal attacks on readers and contributors always deviating from the news item.Come on guys we should be open minded, and respect one anothers views even if we disagree with them

  • Itumeleng - 2012-02-21 09:07

We live in adark world, the Government should start taking the farm killings seriously or we'll have our farms running dry with no wheat, meat and milk, like Zimbabawe. Above all why kill people who are contributing to the economy of this country. Our farmers must be protected.

  • almariv - 2012-02-21 10:03

Scary... hopefully the wife will be able to identify these parasites...

  • SJ Kleynhans - 2012-02-21 11:16

Another unsolved farm murder on the way! Getting sick of this! This is nothing else but the brutal killing of farmers, to what end?

  • Karen - 2012-02-21 11:23

Blacks wants the white mans land and claim it as their own, exactly the same that has happened in Zim. Very sad that innocent people have to die so that others can have their property without working for it like everyone else does.

      Nyiks11 - 2012-02-21 12:46

white man's land , isn't that an oxymoron in africa ?
