Northern Cape premier still in hospital
Johannesburg - Northern Cape Premier Hazel Jenkins was still in hospital on Monday after suffering a stroke in Kimberley.
"According to her doctor, her condition remains stable," said her spokesperson Mafu Davids.
"She is wide awake but is under observation and receiving intensive care."
Last Friday, the premier was about 30 minutes into her state-of-the-province address when she collapsed at the CRC church.
Davids said it was unknown when she would be discharged.
"She will need a long rest and won't go back to work immediately."
He said the legislature would convene a special standing committee meeting on Tuesday to appoint an acting premier.
