2011-03-31 10:43

Cape Town - An off-duty police constable was shot dead and his two friends wounded during a hijacking in Delft, Western Cape police said on Thursday.

The three were visiting a woman late on Wednesday when they were confronted by three armed men in Orange Street, spokesperson November Filander said.

The constable's car was parked outside her home at the time.

"The suspects fired several shots at them fatally wounding the constable in his mouth and wounding the other two males in the stomach and back respectively," he said.

The gunmen fled in the constable's car and it was later recovered in Philippi

Geez, what is SA coming to? We are moving backwards... WE NEED A CHANGE... DA is the only way!!

      The-man-who - 2011-03-31 11:16

Western Cape is a DA ran province, wonder how they dealing with the Cape Flats Gangs?

      DeonL - 2011-03-31 11:42

The Man who - At least DA is trying to prevent 65 gang bosses from getting parole here in Western Cape.

      otiose - 2011-03-31 11:49

@Themanwho - Police is handled nationally, the DA has very little say. If you had any concept of crime statistics in the western cape over the past 6 years, you won't ask "how they dealing with the Cape Flats Gangs"

      sense. - 2011-03-31 15:04

Melly30, We really need a change but who said DA will be the change we need? We run from NP which is now tried to change it's name to DA but their morals are still of the old NP. Better the devil you know that the one you don't. Sorry but DA will never rule again in this life.

      otiose - 2011-03-31 15:23

@sense. The DA grew from the old DP, which came from the PFP (Progressive Freedom Party). Both the PFP and the DP stood against the old NP. You know nothing of their history, why come flaunt your ignorance here?

      Meanleader - 2011-04-01 08:47

@sence ... you talk Non-sence . The National Party was disbanded after Martinus van Traitorwyk ran to the ANC for a job.

  • Mike or Mpho - 2011-03-31 10:59

What do yuo expect from a country that has NO policing wahtsover. I think it is time for everyone top arm themselves, for the first time, I am considering it

  • Nthabi Mfetane - 2011-03-31 11:02

Hectic things happening out there, why will u just start shooting randomly @ innocent people bt i guess dat where there is fire there definately smoke...-;)

      Neville - 2011-03-31 12:37

      Other way round

      Makutu - 2011-03-31 13:30

LOL! You can't get smoke without a fire, not that you can't get fire without smoke. lol!

  • tcstarke - 2011-03-31 11:26

It's time for change definitely. Things are getting worse.

  • Khutjo - 2011-03-31 11:29

People tell that CT its a safe place and always differ..hei that a no go area..they shoot to kill and innocent people..Let DA think twice and hand over to ANC so Bheki Cele may become radical to Criminals of Cape town..

      Cuba12 - 2011-03-31 11:52

And Cele said that Gauteng has the highest crime rate in South Africa... maybe he should clean up Gauteng before he thinks about going to the Cape

      Meanleader - 2011-04-01 08:53

@Khutjo . Cele is as corrupt as the rest of your mates ! We don't want him nor need him in Cape Town . Just look at Johannesburg ... crime capital in SA . No thanks ! Think just a little bit with the brain before you make chit talk . The DA has proven that they alone have the capabilities to run a provence . the ANC bring the crime with them .

  • DeonL - 2011-03-31 11:34

Criminals are all over SA, but Cele says 50% of crime is in Gauteng. The greater Cape Town was some time ago the murder capital in the world, probably still is due to Gangsters in Cape Flats.

  • Chris - 2011-03-31 11:36

    death penalty will definitely work.

  • MactheKnife - 2011-03-31 11:39

      evert.malijani - 2011-03-31 12:10

      Totman - 2011-03-31 12:43

I agree with you both. Sometimes stupid people is the bravest....or is it the other way around? lol.

      Rugged - 2011-03-31 15:38

      Probably couldn't afford a taxi !!!

  • coonpsycho - 2011-03-31 12:46

i dont want to say it but, when last did a white poor man shoot anybody for a car... a wallet full of cash... please note i am comparing poor to poor crime to crime... its sad that most armed criminals in SA is black...they degrade their own race and still want to blame it on Apartheid. Well boets Apartheid did not give you guns. it did not give you taxis who does not abide by the law, then who did? The__ APES NINKINKOOP COUNCIL

      Robotr - 2011-03-31 13:04

Firstly, the article doesn't say the shooter was black. Secondly, you're a racist redneck

      Makutu - 2011-03-31 13:32

Wow...! Who mentioned the race of the shooter or that of the victim? Dude, grow up. Please.

      Meanleader - 2011-04-01 09:05

Here are some clues boys... Delft is a predominantly coloured area . Each area has cops from that same area because they will know the area better than the next guy . Late night visits to girls in a government vehicle , also an affirmative thing ... largely ! So , I agree that these cops were probably Coloured or Black . These are not racist observations !!!! Coonpsycho has not made one factual incorrectitude here , but has stated his feelings in a non politically correct manner . He just said what you think , and are too scared to say > innit bruv ?

      Robotr - 2011-04-02 00:45

Fact is that the last person to call themselves a racist is a racist. Fact is coonpsycho has blatantly accused a race of people to be the cause of trouble. And to top it of he insinuates that the ANC is run by apes. Sure, it's likely that black persons were involved, but it's not an excuse to spit venom. I have been an expat in this country for a long time, the most obvious mental dysfunctionality of this nation I've observed is -entrenched racism Its funny, I first came to these shores in the mid 80's and I thought to myself then that it would take decades to right the wrongs of apartheid. Maybe that's an underestimation.

  • Totman - 2011-03-31 12:48

In the older days shooting some-one in the mouth was a sign of an assassin. Also was used where a man shoot his wife's boyfriend. I presume this was done on a distance and it was not the reason, seeing that several shots were fired and a car was involved.

  • dies irae - 2011-03-31 14:45

@all black, they had to be black what white and coloured people live in phillipey. @the man who pissed in the bed this morning, cape flats gangs are being dealt with thanx to your anc they have more work trying to keep the rest in jail a stunt they are trying to derail the DA with you black bad scum go and deal with the mass potatoes who created the boere inialation.

      Robotr - 2011-03-31 20:29

init but when I am not ok when but i over made some @ ok Hope thats clears things up

  • sense. - 2011-03-31 16:10

@otiose,. The fact will remain. DA will never rule in this World neither in Cape Town. Maybe in the next life.

      Meanleader - 2011-04-01 09:11

@non-sence ... you are dripping with malace girl >
