Durban - An armed robber shot one of his accomplices in the head during a hold-up at a fast-food outlet on Durban's Esplanade in the early hours of Sunday.
Four armed men entered the Bimbos outlet just after 01:30 on Sunday, held staff at gunpoint and demanded they open the safe, police spokesperson inspector Michael Read said.
They took an undisclosed sum of money. As they were fleeing the scene one of the robbers allegedly fired a shot hitting one of his accomplices in the head.
The injured man was taken to Addington Hospital and was still in a critical condition on Sunday afternoon, Read said.
The man, who is in his late 20s, is under police guard.
The other three men fled on foot. No arrests have been made and the money has not been recovered.
