Missing python Dolce found

2012-03-29 18:07

Johannesburg – One of the missing pythons in Sandton was found alive on the owner’s property on Thursday.

Dolce, a Lavender Albino Reticulated Python, was found by her owner, Angi Latimer, in the pool pump.

The 3m snakes went missing on Tuesday at 06:00, after they climbed up the burglar bars in Latimer’s Gallo Manor home and pushed down on the door handle, which opened under the weight.

The search is still on for the second python, Gabbana.

Latimer asked for calm regarding the situation. “My snakes eat very regularly; they don’t have the fear of not being fed. I just want my snakes back. They’re my babies.”

The snakes only eat rats and are fed once a week. They were last fed on Saturday, but can live without being fed for two months.

      Squeegee - 2012-03-29 18:34

      Sandton is a snake pit.

      Simnikiwe - 2012-03-29 18:52

Is it possible that Dolce ate Gabbana...

      Ang - 2012-03-29 19:06

No, I think I saw it earlier in my bathroom.

      Marion - 2012-03-30 09:59

  • Sharon - 2012-03-29 18:16

awwww it was right there all along!!

  • Shirley - 2012-03-29 18:19

Wonderful news! Lets hope the other one is found too!

  • Zighom - 2012-03-29 18:20

This reckless woman better stop wasting our time. How can she get the whole sandton searching when she ddnt search her yard?

      Bronwyn - 2012-03-30 11:35

Did you personally go out and waste time looking for the snakes??????

  • aiazmir - 2012-03-29 18:20

    Probably under her house.

  • Vusi - 2012-03-29 18:21

I hope she doesn't have Chinese neighbors!

      Nicholas - 2012-03-30 08:50

I hope the neighbours don't have small pets!

  • Tanie - 2012-03-29 18:24

The reason why Malema say we must share the wealth. She must be having a huge property, they took two days to find one and still looking? wow!

  • Gerry - 2012-03-29 18:24

IN the pool pump???? Surely you mean in the pool pump HOUSING!? Hope they find the mate before some imbecile uses a spade on it. Despite a very nasty bite pythons won't kill you. your maltese poodle maybe....

      sadiemy - 2012-03-29 20:58

Pythons don't bite. They strangle you first and then swallow you whole

      Pieter890 - 2012-03-29 22:44

Pythons will hold on with their mouth (bite) before they strangle. Or they might bite defensively. They'll only strangle you if they want to eat you, which is very unlikely. Sorry Sadiemy - don't know where you got your info, but it is untrue.

      Wimpie.Haefele - 2012-03-30 08:30

They have teeth like a saw blade can inflict serious wounds

      Felix - 2012-03-30 08:52

Thanks Gerry, I have a slow brain this morning and that had me pretty confused. I was going to comment on whether the snake was dead or not but I think you hit the nail on the head. Sadie, I think you have confused biting and poisonous.

  • Anele - 2012-03-29 18:30

now i visit my girlfriend in sandton*happy*

      Sharon - 2012-03-29 18:44

too funny Anele, but maybe put your visit on ice, there is still one more python out there!

  • warren.cowley - 2012-03-29 18:30

I bet Gabbana has been on her property the whole time. Such big snakes shouldn't be kept in the city... crazy woman

  • catgirl1971 - 2012-03-29 18:32

Happy news for the owner, hope Gabbanna is found soon as well as nothing worse than a missing pet.

      Shirley - 2012-03-29 18:45

Snakes might not be everyones idea of a pet,but when you love your animals, reptiles etc,its heartbreaking when they go missing!

  • John - 2012-03-29 18:35

Must be fun watching ur pet python eat live rats?

  • maseratifittipaldi - 2012-03-29 18:39

Maybe Dolce did get a bit peckish, in which case Gabbana is also in the pool pump.

  • veritas.odium.paret - 2012-03-29 18:40

I'd worry about releasing the names D&G if I were her. Especially given the spotlight she and her snakes are in. I remember a certain luxury goods company feeding a woman to the sharks just for using D&B(anana)...

      Tygerr - 2012-03-29 19:01

Correct. I sense a lawsuit coming on...

      Laurence - 2012-03-30 08:45

Actually not the lady who owns Dolce and Banana proudly displays the threatening letter from D&G in her shop and tells all her customers the story. There are no grounds I can see for a possible civil claim against her.

      Marion - 2012-03-30 10:04

Pathetic to think you could sue because someone calls their snakes Dolce and Gabanna. Then everyone who has a dog called Rambo, Purdey, Gambit, Rover etc., should be sued too. Get a life D&G and consider it free publicity!

  • Tanie - 2012-03-29 18:42

Yippie they found Dolce now find Gabbana.

  • Themba Hillsong - 2012-03-29 18:45

Pythons are lazy snakes, she must just calm down and look under her bed.#Dolce & Gabbana

  • Thabang - 2012-03-29 19:24

So pythons unlike tigers and dogs would not stick together, I thought they would walk side by side. Why don't she let the found one loose and see if it would not help her trace the missing one then

      Sharon - 2012-03-29 19:36

      a sniffer snake!

  • Buhle - 2012-03-29 19:30

Thanks for not looking underneath your carpet.... Ne thanda kabi iplubicity!! And oh, the other sneak is in the garage ne!!!

  • Barry Shrosbree - 2012-03-29 19:31

Um...3m python. Danger to small kids and pets if hungry?

  • hsnam - 2012-03-29 20:10

I wonder if the snake would eat Malema? Probably not a very tasty snack.

      Wimpie.Haefele - 2012-03-30 08:32

      Would die of cholesterol poisoning

      Gcwabe.KaMavovo - 2012-03-30 08:34

Willem dude, thanks for the early morning laugh! Lmao!

      Marie - 2012-03-30 13:30

I think to fat to swallow as well!!

      Mohamed - 2012-04-04 09:09

now why would you want to feed junk food to a snake?

  • Melanie - 2012-03-29 20:15

eix, am overwhelmed by her statement: &i just want my snakes back, they are my babies'. this shows she loves her pt wholeheartedly. I wish i could come and help searching. Gabanna, pls come back home, darling

  • Stanley - 2012-03-29 20:39

Maybe the real dolce and gabanna took what is thiers . I think I can see headlines already G&G purple snake skin shoes and matching bag...

  • judy.bonnier - 2012-03-29 23:07

She is a lovely snake. When Angie brougt her out she was calm and loving. Could see the snakes are cared for and loves their owner. The neighbours was not so lucky.. The snake wisperer found a deadly rinkals in the boys bedroom next door whilest looking for the Gabbana, that one does not belong to Angie, who's snake is that?

      kobus.viljoen - 2012-03-30 07:25

Unlike the Pythons, Rinkhals is native to South Africa, so it probably did not belong to anyone as you need a permit to keep a rinkhals. It might have been after the rats the lady feeds to the pythons and wandered into the wrong house.

      Marion - 2012-03-30 10:07

I didn't know snakes had emotions. Well at least there is good news about the rinkhals. That could have been deadly for the family next door. No one keeps a rinkhals as a pet.

  • Andrew - 2012-03-30 01:54

I also lost my snakes, two black mambas called Louis and Vitton, they will not hesitate to strike if provoked, so you beter be on the lookout, especially all you racists that like to comment on news 24!!

Oh my goodness. Aren't there laws about keeping wild animals as pets?? SPCA or whatever should take those snakes and put them back in the wild. If you want a pet, get a cat or dog. Wild animals should be left where?? All together now: IN THE WILD.

      Riaan - 2012-03-30 09:29

  • Marion - 2012-03-30 09:59

Happy to hear you found one of them Angi. Perhaps not a good idea to keep pets that cannot / do not respond when you call them by name.

  • khwezi.ndawonde - 2012-03-30 11:03

mmmmmm snakes snakes, brave woman, never never

      Caiphus - 2012-03-30 11:44

  • Susan - 2012-03-30 12:02

Can someone please tell me how do snakes show LOVE & CARE?

  • Angi - 2012-03-30 12:13

Thank you to all those weird and wonderful people who have taken this story of my missing babies to new heights - at least some have been educated on the snakes, educated on my snakes as Ahmed could tell you. to those who are taking legal action for "striking" fear into the garden workers and their domestics - I apologise, however to those that educated their workers - well done and to the ignorant people who have threatened me and slated me - well done - so much for progressive thinking. Still looking for Gabanna and he will be close to home so he has not made it to Germiston, Durban or Cape town and if someone sees him paying the toll fees please call me

      Debbie - 2012-04-01 12:50

  • iamene1 - 2012-03-30 18:28

There should be laws against keeping potentially dangerous animals in one's home. Yes they were his pets but now these animals are loose out there, eating little dogs and cats.

  • Rashida - 2012-03-31 10:22

i dont want to be her neighbours at all.thank heavens.

  • Theo - 2012-04-05 12:32
