PE teen missing, presumed drowned

2012-01-16 10:08
Port Elizabeth - The search will resume on Monday for a 14-year-old boy missing, but presumed drowned, off the coast of Port Elizabeth, the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) said.

The teenager went missing while swimming at Pollock Beach, Summerstrand, on Sunday, NSRI spokesperson Craig Lambinon said.

Police, emergency services and the NSRI began searching for the boy that afternoon.

Port Elizabeth NSRI duty coxswain Daniel Heimann said sea conditions had been rough with poor visibility and it was believed that rip currents had dragged the boy out to sea.
