Paramedics find crash scene

Johannesburg - A man was killed when his vehicle collided with another near Barkly West in the early hours of Saturday morning, paramedics said.

ER24 paramedics were on their way to their base after dropping another patient off at a hospital when they came across the accident just after midnight, said spokesperson Vanessa Jackson.

The driver of a Chevrolet sedan was declared dead on scene. He was trapped in his car and rescuers had to use the Jaws-of-Life to free his body.

Jackson said it was surprising that the two men who were in the other vehicle only sustained minor to moderate injuries while their vehicle was unrecognisable after the accident.

"One had several cuts on his head and hands, while the other had only a cut on the head."

They were taken to a local hospital.

"It is at this stage unclear how the accident happened," said Jackson.
