Johannesburg – Paramedics went beyond the call of duty and stopped to help a dog that had been knocked over in Roodepoort on Tuesday morning.

It was critically injured along Main Reef Road, on the West Rand, shortly after 06:00, Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said.

After the vet examined the dog and took X-rays, he decided that its injuries were too severe and put it down.

Botha said the paramedics were saddened by the incident.
