Johannesburg - A pastor from the Judah African Revival
Mission church in Kya Sand was expected to appear in the Krugersdorp
Magistrate's Court on Wednesday in connection with the rape of a 13-year-old
girl, according to a report.
The Star reported the pastor, 32, allegedly lured the girl
to have sex with him between October and December last year, by telling her he
was sick and sex with her would cure him.
He was arrested in January and was in jail, according to the
report.
The girl's mother told the newspaper that the community was
angry and said her family trusted him because he was a "man of faith"
and often visited their house.
The mother discovered text messages on the girl's phone in
December when she wanted to make a call.
According to the report the messages was that of comfort
because the girl was "feeling sore".
"My daughter said it happened five times and she was in
'a cage' with him all the time," the mother told the Star.
"He indoctrinated her with love messages and by telling
her she was special. The first time it happened, he phoned her and told her he
was coming to have sex because he was ill and needed healing."
After being caught, the pastor asked the girl to run away
with him before he fled to Mozambique, according to the newspaper.
He came back to South Africa after the mother told him she
would drop all charges, and the man was arrested at a bus stop.
