Pastor in court for third rape charge
Johannesburg - The Limpopo pastor arrested on Monday for raping a 14-year-old in Seshego appeared in the Polokwane Magistrate's Court to face a third rape charge on Friday, police said.
The second rape charge, laid by an 18-year-old from Polokwane and the third charge laid by a 20-year-old from Seshego, will from now on be heard simultaneously in Polokwane, said Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi.
The man's next court appearance for charges two and three will be on January 11.
Friday's court appearance was to have taken place in Seshego but an agreement was reached for Polokwane to take the case as the man was being held in the police cells in the town.
The first charge will remain in the Seshego Magistrate' Court unless an agreement can be reached between the National Prosecuting Authority and the Department of Justice, Mulaudzi said.
"He was granted R2 000 bail [on Tuesday] for the first case which makes it tricky to now combine it with the later two cases."
He will appear again on the first charge in Seshego on February 17.
