Johannesburg - A second pedestrian has been killed in Benoni early on Saturday morning after another man was killed late on Friday night, paramedics said.

"Just after [midnight] Benoni paramedics were called out to the N12 for another pedestrian that was knocked down by a car," said ER24 spokesperson Vanessa Jackson.

"This comes not even three hours after a pedestrian died on the N12 on the bridge over Tom Jones Road in Benoni."

The accident occurred on the N12 by the Rondebult road exit.

"When paramedics arrived at the scene, they found a male patient believed to be in his late 20s lying in the road. The patient had suffered multiple and traumatic injuries and...was declared dead on scene," said Jackson.

The car which had hit the man was no longer on the scene.

Police were investigating.
