Johannesburg - A Soweto woman who has been charged with attempted murder after she allegedly bit a man’s penis says he tried to rape her.

Shadi Khune appeared in court on Tuesday and was granted R1 000 bail but could not pay it, The Star reported on Wednesday.

She claims that at the weekend she went to a tavern with the complainant, Msa Mpepandaku, who is a friend of hers, and they had a few drinks.

Khune claims that Mpepandaku then suggested they go back to his house and have a few more drinks. She says when they got to his house he locked the door and tried to rape her. Khune says as he was undressing himself she bit him on his penis and ran out.

Sapa quoted the police on Tuesday as saying that Khune heard about Mpepandaku's intention to lay charges against her and "followed" him there.

But she says she went to the police to report the incident and they simply gave her a letter and told her to go to a hospital. The mother of two told The Star that when she went back to the police, she found Mpepandaku at the station laying a charge against her.

But the man told the newspaper that his friend is lying about the attempted rape because when they got back to his home after being at the tavern, Khune asked if she could “kiss” his penis.

Mpepanduku said he then heard from neighbours that Khune bragged about biting his penis.

He has a bit of a limp but says that Khune only bit “some meat” off the bottom of his penis and that he can still have children.

"The doctor's medical report indicated that she bit him on a very dangerous portion of the private parts, and that he could have died, hence the attempted murder charge," police spokesperson Constable Sibusiso Chauke said.

Khune is due to appear in court again on Wednesday.
