Pilot dies in microlight crash
Cape Town - A pilot died in a light aircraft crash north of Cape Town on Saturday, said the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
The "Bushbaby" flew from Fisante Kraal airfield to Morning Star airfield with only the pilot on board, said CAA duty officer Ishmael Mokoena.
The plane landed at Morning Star and took off again successfully with no problems, he said.
"While executing a turn, the aircraft spun back to the ground and crashed. The pilot was fatally injured."
Mokoena said Western Cape provincial police are on the scene until the CAA arrived.
The microlight crash took place just before 11:30 between Table View and Atlantis, in the Philadelphia area, said Johann Minnie of Cape Town disaster management services.
