Cape Town - A Cape Town pilot who crash-landed a light aircraft on Green Point common at the weekend was in a stable condition on Monday.
A spokesperson for the Chris Barnard Memorial Hospital said Brett Shaw (36) was in a general ward being treated for various injuries.
Shaw was towing an advertising banner when he crashed on the common, where thousands of people were watching the Cape Town minstrels on Saturday afternoon.
Shaw told a local newspaper he was heading towards Cape Town International Airport when his engine began to give trouble.
"I headed straight for Green Point common. I don't remember anything after that."
Shaw was pulled free from the crashed aircraft by two homeless people and he was taken to hospital.
The accident is being investigated by the Civil Aviation Authority.
