Thousands of people have marched through the streets of Durban against xenophobia. WATCH. WATCH

Durban - Metro police and the SA Police Service have clashed with a group of people trying to disrupt a peace march against xenophobia in Durban on Thursday.

The police used stun grenades and rubber bullet to disperse the group.

Several hundred people meant to be listening to speeches at Durban's City Hall, where thousands had gathered to protest against recent attacks on foreign nationals, were pushed out to Dr Pixley KaSeme (West) Street in the process.

Police were monitoring the situation.
