Police hunt Tazz hijacker gang

2012-03-28 22:13

Johannesburg - Three men driving a white Toyota Tazz are wanted for more than eight hijackings in Kagiso on the West Rand, police said on Wednesday.

"We are looking for a white Toyota Tazz, but we don't have a registration number and no arrests have been made," Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya said.

"Impala Road from Chamdor past Leratong Hospital has so far been tipped as the most often used by hijackers. Whatever make of car you are driving, you are advised to be equally alert," he said.

Last Friday, a Mercedes Benz was hijacked in Chamdor.

Four men attacked the driver outside his work premises around 07:00 and took his car.

A week earlier, a truck and a bakkie were hijacked in Kagiso late in the evening also by unknown men in a white Toyota Tazz.

The hijackers signalled the truck driver to stop, making him believe there was something wrong with his vehicle, said Sibiya.

The driver was held at gunpoint and forced to stay in the truck.

The hijackers dropped him off a while later on Impala Road.

An insurance assessor once told us that white vehicles are targeted in hijackings because there are so many white vehicles on the road they just blend in. Does same principle apply to the hijackers vehicle?

Is this three white men, three black men, three coloured men or what. Please be more specific when reporting. I dont want to be driving a white Tazz with two friends and get pulled over for suspicion of being a hijacker.

I'm 99% sure these guys had a look at MY car this evening. Very smooth operators, asked about everything (specially about the anti-hijack and alarm systems). \r\n\r\nI didn't even tell them where to meet me, but they pitched up without warning..\r\n\r\nI'd give the details to the cops, but I know that they won't do anything about it, so why waste my time?\r\n\r\nWhat happened to our SAPS and where's our Tax-money going? Not impressed.
