Police rescue dolphin
Durban - A dolphin was rescued by police on a beach in Durban while struggling to get back to the sea, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Monday.
"Police were patrolling on the harbour (on Sunday) when they spotted a dolphin on the sea-shore," said Lieutenant Colonel Vincent Mdunge.
"They discovered that the dolphin was struggling to get back to the water and called for assistance," he said.
Mdunge police shaded the dolphin to protect it from the sun while waiting for the help of a KwaZulu-Natal wildlife expert, a vet and two dolphin experts from uShaka Marine World.
They confirmed that the dolphin had been washed ashore and everyone helped to lift the dolphin and carry it back to the sea, said Mdunge.
