Johannesburg - The public have been warned to beware of people posing as bank employees, Eastern Cape police said on Sunday.

Captain Mluleki Mbi said bogus bank employees would ask clients to verify their banking details over the phone.

"Police are currently investigating fraud in connection to these incidents," he said.

He also advised communities to strengthen household security as the number of burglary cases had recently increased.

Look! We now have telephone banking, Internet banking and cellphone banking. Those were created by diplomatic people and it is the same people that will take our money. How can a ATM machine swallow your card at the ATM and by the time you report, your money will be all gone?? I do understand that phone calls are more delaying than withdrawing the money, but how can somebody withdraw R5000 from your money while the bank limit is only R2000???
