Policeman held for poaching

Cape Town - Five people, including a police inspector and a reservist, were arrested when police stopped and searched their car in Pringle Bay on Wednesday, Western Cape police said on Thursday.

Police spokesperson Inspector Eben Groenewald said 11 abalone, 13 giant periwinkle, also known as alikreukel, four crayfish, diving equipment, binoculars and their vehicle were confiscated.

Anyone with information about abalone poaching should contact Operation Neptune at 028 313 2703.
