Cape Town - A pregnant woman was critically injured when her vehicle collided with a bakkie in Bellville on Saturday morning, Cape Town paramedics said.

The 21-year-old woman, who is seven months pregnant, was airlifted to the Vergelegen Medi-Clinic in Somerset West, said ER24 spokesperson Andre Visser.

"She complained of pain to her back and neck but was most concerned about her baby as the airbags in her vehicle deployed immediately on impact," he said.

The bakkie driver was not injured.
