Pregnant woman's murder - suspect charged

2012-03-08 21:53

Bloemfontein - A man appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court on Thursday in connection with the disappearance and murder of a pregnant woman.

Quewin Coetzee appeared on charges of murder and escaping from custody. The matter was postponed until March 15 for further investigation.

Celeste Fraser-Carson, 28, was found buried in a shallow grave near the Meadows Road in the Bloemspruit area on Tuesday morning.

Police spokespersonCaptain Harry Nagel said the discovery followed the arrest of a 30-year-old man in Graaff Reinet on Monday night.

Fraser-Carson disappeared three weeks ago. Photographs of the missing mother, who was expecting her second child, were pinned up all over the city and the case received extensive media coverage.

Coetzee remains in custody.
