Johannesburg - A plastics factory caught fire in Moot, Pretoria, with damage estimated at around R15m, Gauteng police said on Saturday.

Warrant Officer Annabel Middelton said the factory caught fire about 19:15 on Friday and was put out before midnight.

Police believed an electrical fault caused the fire.

Damage to goods in the factory was estimated at R10m while damage to the building, rented by a plastics company, was estimated to be between R5m and R6m.

No one was injured in the fire.

A case of arson was opened,  although police believe no foul play was suspected.
