Pretoria residents remain without water

Many homes in Pretoria's northern suburbs have been left without water, and an estimated 30 homes were flooded, after workers dislodged a pipe from one of the city's reservoirs. (File, AP)

Pretoria - Residents in Sinoville, Annlin, Dorandia, Pretoria North, Wonderboom and areas along the R101 up to Rooiwal were without water on Wednesday morning due to a damaged water pipe, the City of Tshwane said.

"About 35 houses in the immediate area of Van der Schyff and Elizabeth Streets in Wonderboom were flooded," the municipality said in a statement.

Residents were requested to not use any power points until further notice.

Municipal engineers were on site and had been working on the problem since Tuesday night.

"It is expected that the water supply will be restored by 12 noon today," the municipality said,

Water tankers would be used to provide water to affected areas.
